The Potter’s House offers a discerning blend of high church and low, tradition and innovation, sincere worship and healthy skepticism.
Affiliated with The United Church of Christ, The Potter’s House is committed to the rich and diverse theology and worship of the Christian Church worldwide, both in the present and in the historic past. Drawing upon the most creative and beautiful elements of Christian worship from a variety of streams and traditions (Catholic, Methodist, Episcopalian, Orthodox, Congregational, Baptist, etc), our worship gatherings seek to inspire and teach, heal and challenge, encourage and connect.
The Potter’s House is a place where questions are invited and encouraged. You will never be handed some ‘official’ checklist of orthodox beliefs because we believe that doubt and ambiguity are partners to authentic faith. Of course, you may occasionally be invited to suspend your intellect, but you will never be required to sacrifice it.
We’ve Moved!
We are now meeting at Grace Episcopal Church (341 Washington Street) in Traverse City (MI 49684). Our offices have moved there as well.
What started out as a few good friends gathering for worship – with only the promise that ‘it’s not that bad’ – has blossomed into a wonderful faith community. So to meet our expanding needs, the good folks at Grace Church invited us to share their facility with them.
While we’d love to have you join us for worship any Sunday night, we especially hope you’ll stop by during these next few months to help us celebrate (parties, concerts, food, silly balloon animals, stuff like that).
